Week 1

Intro: We’ve been dropped into the grand story of the world In Medias Res.

Truth: Sin is the cause of brokenness. Just consider how these sins have negatively affected your life (Colossians 3:5-9).

Descent: It’s been this way for a while. But God doesn’t want to leave us here.

The Point: Sin is just part of the part of the story we’re in.

Week 2

Intro: It’d be easy to become bitter against a God who lets these things happen.

Truth: God warned that the wages of sin would be death (Genesis 2:15-17). And then they were.

Descent: If you’ve experienced loss, I’m sorry. I hope you can see God through the lens of the gospel narrative instead of from a place of bitterness.

The Point: When you see through the lens of the gospel, bitterness won’t destroy your relationship with God.

Week 3

Intro: It’s actually a little hypocritical to blame God for sin’s effects. We love to sin. We just hate its effects.

Truth: Paul sets the record straight on how someone will approach sin when they see God through the lens of the gospel (Romans 6:12-16).

Descent: Sin may be part of the part of the story we’re in, but in Christ you don’t have to add to the pain and brokenness of our world.

The Point: When you see through the lens of the gospel, you’ll fight to eradicate sin from your story.

Week 4

Intro: The Lens of this series could lead to a sense of hopelessness.

Truth: The grand story of our world ends with Christ eradicating sin (and all its effects) once and for all (Revelation 21:1-8).

Descent: Ultimately, the story of our world only leads to hopelessness if your hope is in yourself.

The Point: When you see through the lens of the gospel, you’ll place your hope in Christ.
